Some thoughts on this snowy April day….

Things that we write about

I'm sitting here looking out the window on this sunny, snowy April day. As most people in Toronto are thinking today - WTF? Seriously, I was tempted to put the snow boots away last week. It's April for goodness sake. It's SPRING - as if we needed that reminder? 2015 was a really awesome year for us. We got to do some really cool weddings, met tons of unique and incredible people, got to try out some new cameras. We even got a hip office downtown. (I know how cheesy that sounded, and I'm still thinking I should delete that word.) Overall it was a great year of growth for Hidden Light Films. What's in store for 2016? We only wish we k ...

We have a studio!!!!!

Things that we write about

So the title says it all. We have a studio. This is HUGE! come visit us and sit on our fancy couch, or our ghost chairs (Ezra LOOOOVES the ghost chairs.) It's industrial, raw and oh-so pretty. (Like our new curtains? We do!) We are always stocked with homemade cookies and beverages. So you won't go hungry. Or thirsty. But you might eat a lot of cookies - which isn't really a problem in our eyes.

Michelle & Elliot | An elegant wedding in Downtown Toronto

Things that we write about

Michelle and Elliot's wedding in downtown Toronto in June was one of those wonderful, whimsical affairs. Everything about the day was beautiful. Michelle. Elliot. The Arcadian Court. Knox College. The cake. The flowers. Even the rain was beautiful. Honestly, getting to shoot in locations as gorgeous and dramatic as these are things that we dream about. I actually had a difficult time choosing shots for this post. Everything was soooo pretty. The couple chose to get ready in the comforts of home. Michelle relaxed and dressed in her parents' house, while Elliot stayed in the couple's abode. (How many synonyms can I use?) We love ...

We don’t always blog, but when we do we post many wedding videos….

Things that we write about

We really have been having an amazing wedding season. Thank you to all our gorgeous couples for trusting us with documenting your weddings. It's been a privilege to do so! We've learned a lot already, and can't wait to see what challenges we'll be up against in the future! Weddings are fickle. You have to play that line of making sure everything goes perfect (which it really never can :D) while it being this immensely emotional event for the key players. We have to make sure we capture everything we need for the wedding video, but not be in anyone's face. We need to stay covert, while being there all the time. Does that make any sense? ...

Bel Ami | Videography behind the scenes of a style shoot

Things that we write about

Yet another blog post that I don't actually have to write myself... muhahahaha. We got invited to take part in a gorgeous style shoot in downtown Toronto. While style shoots don't have the excitement and joy of a real wedding, it's a chance for us to get some pretty shots without the pressure of it being a real wedding. (You can't redo that first kiss in the event that you miss it!) Videography is a bit unforgiving in that way. From the Wedlux website: This Glitterati Style File from our current “Literary Love” issue takes elements from the Paris-based novel, Bel Ami, and injects a serious dose of glamour and opulence (with a ...

Rayna & Bas | Toronto Fall Wedding Video

Things that we write about

Sometimes stories are best told by those who experienced them. Luckily for us Rayna & Bas accomplished the pinnacle of wedding submissions: Style Me Pretty. Can we write better than Style Me Pretty? We Nope. Nah-uh. We just do wedding videography. Blogging is an "extra", but definitely not our raison d'être. Even better, Rayna wrote in her wonderful story. Experts are from Style Me Pretty | Modern + Fresh Toronto Fall Wedding From the Bride… Our love story often feels like a fairytale – or a dream. I still sometimes feel I need to pinch myself to make sure this is real life. A Dutch boy, a Canadian girl who meet in Australia and live h ...

Sara & Jay | Labour Day Wedding Video

Things that we write about

Sometimes you just get to share in one of those beautiful love stories. Stories where every single person in the room feels the happiness and the love that the entire family has for each other. Sara and Jay's summer wedding was one of those amazing days where everything just fell into place. Starting with an early morning getting ready at the Oakdale Country Club in Toronto. Sara was joined by her close friends and family and Jay was surrounded by his. The entire day just centred around thus group of people who were excited to be there. I can't even describe the energy. (You'll just have to watch the video to experience it for yourself!) (O ...

Jamie & Neal

Things that we write about

Once in a while you get to film one of those weddings that just so bloggable you just don't know how to handle it. (I'm assuming "bloggable" is a word even though my spell check thinks otherwise.) Jamie and Neal's wedding was just one of those weddings. Not only that, but Jamie and Neal are just one of those couples that reminds you what love is. Love for each other, love for family and love for friends. I remember when we first met them they told us that they wanted this to be a party for their friends where they just happened to get married. They served macaroni and cheese, BBQ and poutine. (I'm hungry just writing that!) T ...

Chantelle & Jon

Things that we write about

When we first met Chantelle and Jon in downtown Toronto, they were so cute and unique that we were dying to film their wedding! And it totally helped that they were super excited to use us too. That makes for the best videographer / bride & groom relationship - where we're excited to film them, and they want US to film them. They got married at Jon's parents house in Fergus, Ontario. This couple did everything they could to make their guest feel comfortable, including a canoe full of beer. I repeat. A CANOE FULL OF BEER. Can you get any more Canadian than that?   After an emotional reveal by the river side the two had ...
